Private dwelling located within site of client’s former residence. House located alonside the A96 at the entrance to Banff from the west with magnificent views to the west and north. The client asked for a new house to take full advantage of its location. Because of the site’s exposure, no garden areas were required, only external terraces overlooking the views of Banff Bay.
Originally working drawings were prepared for a traditionally constructed dwelling. Our client’s acquaintance in the firm of SCOTFRAME proposed they used the design to illustrate that timber frame construction could be utilised for any non traditional domestic one-off design. The client agreed to this on cost and construction time grounds and this is what was done.SCOTFRAME redesigned trhe structure to suit their system and supplied the “kit” to the builder, A. D. Walker Ltd.

This is possibly the worst looking building I have ever laid my eyes upon.
This building is hideous. Never before have I seen such a bland and poorly shapen building be praised as magnificent architecture. Except maybe the 70’s.
