Heaton Park Congregational Church Redevelopment

Heaton Park Congregational Church Redevelopment

Originally built in 1881, Heaton Park Congregational Church, Prestwich, Manchester is a Grade II listed building that had fallen into a serious state of disrepair. Its listing made repairs expensive and the unique first floor worship area created significant difficulty to its aging congregation, which put into question the future of the Church in this location.

The solution created by Fuzed Architecture was to convert the original church into 23 refined apartments and penthouses that retained many of the building’s original features, and simultaneously build a new worship area and community resource with all modern conveniences on the same plot. This sensitive redevelopment recently received recognition by the Manchester Society of Architects in the category of Civil Buildings, 2009.
