Grizedale Bar, Lancaster University

Barnes was appointed on a Design & Build basis to create a new social space for Grizedale College.

Grizedale College, named after Grizedale Forest, involved the demolition of part of the existing building, originally built in 1975, was replaced with a new 2-storey steel frame extension and internal refurbishment to the area’s retained

The scheme was subject to extensive value engineering in order to reduce the build cost. The new building, now linked to the Pendle student accommodation block, boasts a new bar for the renowned student disco, administration offices, launderette, quiet study area, kitchen and meeting rooms.
